Lost For Words

It has been said that a healthy prayer life anchors the soul in our daily walk in this fallen world . There have been a ton of books written on prayer . How to pray more effectively , how to pray with purpose, with power , on and on the list goes. The scripture does tell us to pray without ceasing. Many use the Lords prayer as a template to pray . That is a good place to start .

But if we are truly honest , there are times we are at a loss . We simply do not have a heart to pray. We seem to go through the motions and it seems tiresome. It lacks any sense of depth, urgency, affection or purpose. We lament our lack of passion in our prayers . We struggle sometimes in even knowing what to say . For we struggle to pray for what God wills .

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
(Romans 8:26 ESV)

In those seasons this passage is such a comfort . The Holy Spirit knowing our weakness ,our inability at times to know what to pray , intercedes on our behalf. He knows us ,  He understands our state and knowing the Fathers will perfectly for us , does the job perfectly for us . So when we are off , or struggling with what to say , trust that the Holy Spirit is in your corner . What a blessing and great encouragement this truth is.

Verse Of The Day  :    Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. [24] He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
                                      (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV)

Do you want to know about the time I had the best conversations with God? I was anchored to a hospital bed and they hadn't switched my trach to a talking trach, yet. The Holy spirit did most of the talking, through His word. Scripture verses were coming at me left, right and center. Now that I'm mobile, the trach has healed over and I'm getting on with life, I'm much more easily distracted.
When Our Lord says in scripture that he has to go or He cannot send the Comforter, I am reminded of how important this was for him to do. In our broken world and distracted selves, the Holy Spirit helps to keep me together. What a glorious gift is given to us when He comes into our lives. Love you, Mrs Reg
