Puts Things Into Perspective

When you read about the lock out of NFL players (most all very well paid) and then watch your hockey team lose a pivotal game that more or less makes their playoffs hopes all but gone, it could leave one a bit bummed. I have always enjoyed sports and played some. For many men they live vicariously through sports . Its highs when they win and lows with a loss. I used to be one of those "guys". This year I have prayed that God would help me in viewing sports in a balanced manor.

When things like what has happened in Japan occur , it should truly put into perspective what role sports should play in ones life . It is nothing more than entertainment . Ultimately it has no real impact on my life. If  my team loses so what. Its not life or death . But what unfolds around us everyday should impact us. When someone around us is hurting , when a disaster like the one in Japan happens ,these are the things that matter .

My heart truly goes out to the people of Japan . May we awake to what matters in life and keep those things that really do not have any true ties to our lives , in there proper place.

Verse Of The Day  :

“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
[25] but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
(1 Peter 1:24-25 ESV)

The next time I want to throw a surprise "pity" party, over nothing, I should flip on the lights and look around. Thanks Hon', for keeping it in perspective. Love you, Mrs Reg
