Today was my brothers surgery for a very painful condition that causes seizures in his brain and triggers intense pain into his face. It is called the suicide condition because it is so debilitating. So I'm very thankful to God that the surgery went well and all appears well.
But as I waited and checked later on some Facebook posts , I thought how much we presume on God that He will always come through . That our illness or surgery will have a good outcome or perfect result. We presume that God is obligated to give us what we think is the right . We can pray that things will go well or healing but ultimately , God's will be done.
But what we can say , if one is a Christian then no matter happens , we are secure in the arms of Christ. What Jesus did on the cross and rising from dead was put an end to sins tyranny and deaths dominion .We are redeemed by His blood and given the hope of eternal life. All the promises of scripture are grounded in Christ and His work.
Even Paul said that it would be better to go and be with Christ but if he was given more life , it was to do the will of the Father and preach Christ. We simply cannot know how things will go when facing major illnesses or surgery even if we confess Christ.
When my wife was diagnosed with Cancer , we did not claim any health and wealth foolishness. But held onto the promises of God in Christ that nothing could separate us from the Love of God . Anyone who reads scripture knows that death and suffering are not absent from God's people . Why this is so , we cannot truly know completely but we do not have a Saviour that was removed from the reality of pain,grief and sorrow.He suffered and died in our place that we might have life in Him.
This should give us confidence we can still go before God and pray for good things to happen and even plead our case but in the end , we must trust in God that whatever waters we are in are for a purpose.
So I will not presume God regarding health,wealth or success. But what I will trust are His promises . On those I will stand. So I'm thankful that God in His mercy and grace spared my wife and now my brother , blessed be the name of our God. Amen.
Verse Of The Day : [15] Though he slay me, I will hope in him;
yet I will argue my ways to his face.
(Job 13:15 ESV)

I am so glad that Troy's surgery went well. Having been the one in the hospital bed, I long ago realized a certain truth. Believe it or not, it's harder on the people around you than it is on you.
A lot of prayers went up for him. I know we should never presume on God but at the same time we should always give Him the glory in all things. Sometimes when things are going well, or they way we want then to, we assume it's from our own strength or a coincidence. May that never be said of us. As the great hymn writer wrote, "To God be the glory great things He has done..." Love you, Mrs Reg
