Functional Fools

     Psalm 14:1
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”.......

Today I was watching a little bit of Richard Dawkins , the radical atheist. But it caused me to think ,in reality most people are functional atheist. People go about the day without any real thought of God. They may say they believe in God but really show no outward sign of that reality.

In fact most often from my observations God and Jesus Christ become a swear word than any type of praise or worship. This goes for the poor to the rich . To the uneducated, to those with degrees. They are all equally functional fools. That is until disease or death comes calling and then , watch the Lord speak come flying. Oh Lord help me through or the classic , I know he/she is in a better place . Really?

Only the hardest of hearts totally reject God in times of trouble. The saying there are no atheist in a foxhole is mostly true . But in general most live day in day out without any real thought of God.

Christians can live as a fools as well. Often we frame our week with Sunday and our trip to a church but we should be living our lives Corem Deo , before the face of God. If we live each day without thinking, reading and praying , how are we any different.

May we show a dying world what its like to live before the face of God , with the hope of Christ anchoring our lives .

I never listen to Richard Dawkins. I know what his stand is on God, I figure you haven't made it up. For me, to read or hear it first hand would quantify how sad and empty his life must be. So, I pray for him that God would soften his heart. If it would be the Lord's will, that he would be bought in to the Kingdom, then it will be done.
We should all keep in mind what it says in Matthew 10:32-33, "So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven."
So, this isn't just a wee small matter of whatever feels right to you... There is absolute truth. It is found in the second person of THE one and only Triune God who came to die for our sins and was resurrected, on the third day.
From a personal view point, compared to living Coram Deo,just spending a brief distracted moment on Sunday with God is so empty. It's only slight less empty than not going at all. The communion that one can have with God, here on earth, is only surpassed by when we see Him face to face. If people only knew what they were missing, they would weep. I know, because I have.
