How does this have to do with growing in holiness? Well its so easy to think you are so on your way when you go to Church, bible study or hang with Christian friends but put a lawn mower in your way and you soon realize how much you always need the gospel , how much you need the blood of Jesus , how much you need Jesus period.
Its in the everyday task , the normal events of the day that reveal the weakness of the flesh. The old nature showing its shadow in the struggle with a computer that won't reboot or a flat tire . These are the times when we will see what growth in our lives. But even if we fail we need to confess and trust that even that sin is covered by the work of Christ on the cross. We must confess , get up and realize that all things can be done for God's glory. In those simple moments of normal everyday struggles , God can use to show you His love and teach one to grow.
So God bless lawn mowers that won't start but I hope it doesn't happen too often.
17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

Exodus 20:13 “You shall not murder." is pretty much the one everyone says when in denial about their sinful nature. But you hear it said like this, "I'm not a bad person. I've never killed anyone."
Adultery and stealing make the obvious bad list, too. But, it's the other 7 that we routinely bust up.
Here are some examples. Listened to gossip lately, famous people count, and then repeated it?
Exodus 20:16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."
Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me." What takes position in your heart over God? What's more important money, power or success?
My personal favourite, and also, the easiest one to justify in our materialistic, greedy world. Exodus 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.” It's especially difficult if someone you don't like or you think is mean and nasty some how prospers instead of you.
Thoughtfully, read through Exodus chapter 20. If you're still justifying (as we all do), read what Jesus says about them in Matthew 5. See and hear what He says about the so called obvious top 3.
Watch out for the lawn mowers in your life. Sometimes they start out as weed whackers and before you know it you're facing a big old combine harvester.
Love you, Mrs Reg
