A Time To Pause

Friday is a day we stop and recall the sacrifice of all those who have served and some who paid the ultimate price to secure our freedoms. Those who have served in the military throughout the years deserve our respect and  thanks. May we comprehend how precious it is we live in a free country and stand up when free speech is trying to be stifled .

So thank you for all who serve still . May we never forget.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
         In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
         In Flanders fields.

I remember memorizing this poem, in Grade 7 or 8. Never knock the old teaching way of memorization. It stays with you, always. Every time that I hear or read this poem, I'm still very touched by it. To all who serve and have served to keep us free, I thank you. Love you, Mrs Reg
