God's Speaking , Are You Listening ?

Every Sunday during Church , our Pastor always encourages the congregation to open their Bibles and following along with the passages selected. I appreciate the fact that he encourages people bring their Bibles. But just the other day I started wondering , do we really understand that when we open our Bibles ,  we are reading the very words of God. That just as Adam and Moses heard God speak , that same God speaks to us in His word.

We are so blessed in this country to have a Bible in our hands , without the fear of persecution. Not only can we read it , think of the availability . You can find a copy in your local bookstore in numerous translations. We take this for granted. I know I have . So each day , as I open my Bible , may it make me tremble that in this sinners hands , God speaks. Am I listening ? Are you?

Westmister Confession of Faith
Chapter 1 - of the Holy Scripture
IV. The authority of the holy Scripture, for which it ought to be believed
and obeyed, dependeth not upon the testimony of any man or
Church, but wholly upon God (who is truth itself), the Author thereof;
and therefore it is to be received, because it is the Word of God

I appreciate the fact that Pastor Bob has now added turning more of the lights on, in the sanctuary. I understand that focusing them around the front makes sense. I suppose you want people to pay attention. At my age, dim lighting makes me sleepy and makes it impossible to see my Bible.
Seriously, when you realize the magnitude of God's Holy word it should make you tremble. All those vastly different writers. The only connection being God Himself. Otherwise, why would it be so cohesive and still be in print , today? Love you, Mrs Reg
